We pick and peel at layers within each other. Each time hoping to reveal something other then the truth. Digging for something more human. Trying to find the hope within others that we lost inside ourselves. Holding others to harsher standards while justifying our own lackings. Trying to change, control, and affect the world around us, so out of touch with perspective.

Our emotional branches extending to meet only the feelings which have directly impacted our lives, or threaten only the most severe assaults on the image of humanity. While voiding ourself of the emotional drain of the problems of others we don't know. Double standards...That guy had it coming and shit happens, but dear god the sky is falling when that's my brother and it's not his fault because... We don't abide by the standards we set for others. But only I am complex enough to justify all the situations which surrounded the circumstances. I the selfish and arrogant representation of humanity. This is not black and white, it is layered because you don't understand. Humanity is selfish. We only see our flaws in others but remember that it may be more of a mirrored image. Recognizing in others what lyes within ourselves.  But complexly layered and woven with the desire to find something more human. To find hope or change in others when really we need excavate those things within ourselves. Desensitized by the world and dying inside we scratch the surface so we can breathe and live. We rely on affecting each other to believe in change.

More human then selfish, hopeful, lonely, complex, hypocritical, contradictive, strong, weak, conforming, individuals.  Cherishing the rarity and illusion of compassion and selflessness.
